Vet found with assets worth Rs 2 crore

Hyderabad, February 07: A veterina ry assistant surgeon in Karimnagar was caught with disproportionate assets worth more than Rs two crore by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials today.

ACB officials conducted searches on the residence of Dr Y Jayaramulu, veterinary assistant surgeon, Ramavaram in Husnabad mandal in Karimnagar, today. Simultaneous searches were conducted on the house of his friend, G Venkatesham at Karimnagar, and also on the doctor’s office at Ramavaram and poultry farm owned by him at Karimnagar.

“The searches resulted in unearthing assets worth more than Rs 2.10 crore as per documentary value. The market value of these assets is much higher than the actual value,’’ an official release said.

The assets include a house, two residential plots and 61 acre agricultural land at six different villages in Karimnagar.

Other assets include investment in the poultry farm of more than Rs 1.2 crore and investments in fixed deposits, shares and chit funds of about 5.9 lakh.

ACB officials also found the veterinary assistant surgeon in possession of 49 tola gold ornaments and 500 grams silver ornaments all worth Rs 7.17 lakh. These were recovered from the residence and bank lockers of the doctor. Other assets include cash of Rs five lakh and LIC Insurance premia worth Rs 12.20 lakh, a car and a motorcycle worth Rs 6.12 lakh and household articles worth Rs 2.12 lakh. Receipts of hand loan given by the doctor to private persons for over Rs five lakh were also found.

Jayaramulu would be arrested and produced before a special court for ACB cases in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, E Ramchander Rao, the deputy tahsildar of Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam was caught red-handed by the ACB officials at his office today afternoon when he took Rs 5,000 bribe through a private person, Jonna Penta Rao to issue a No Objection Certificate pertaining to the land of a person.

Ramchander Rao and Penta Rao would be arrested and produced before a special court for ACB cases in Visakhapatnam, the release said.
