YSR Congress party has said that vested interests and a section of media has ganged up to defame YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and have been writing material that does not go well with media ethics, even as majority of journalists were expressing solidarity with Sakshi for the black GO which banned advertisement to Sakshi media house.
“The news of CBI freezing Sakshi bank accounts appeared at least 15 days in advance in a section of press which is now spreading news of attaching assets and arrest of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The move of the conspirators will fall flat soon,” party spokesperson Bajireddy Goverdhan said here on Saturday.
Unable to face YS Jagan Mohan Reddy politically and in running the media house, vested interests and the section of media has been conspiring to unleash false propaganda against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, people are watching and will tell a fitting lesson in the days to come, he said adding that CBI has been adopting double standards in its approach.
While it was twinkle-footed in pursuing the cases against Sakshi, it developed cold feet when YS Vijaymma has filed a case against the disproportionate assets of TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu. “CBI has taken one stand while dealing with our case and a contrasting one when the accused was Chandrababu Naidu,” he said.
On freedom of press, Sakshi did react when there was an attack by MRPS activists on Andhra Jyothi, while the same newspaper has been writing a bundle of lies on Sakshi and YSR family members. YS Jagan has spoken only after the accounts were frozen and a GO was issued and did not speak on any other occasion about other newspapers, he said.
When Margadarsi chit funds case broke out, it was projected as if it was an attack on freedom of press and Chandrababu Naidu left for Delhi and fed the national media with distorted facts. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has clarity on freedom of press while the vested interests do not have the same virtue, he said. (INN)
