The Hyderabad High Court today postponed its judgment on grant of stay on arrest of A-4 in the ‘Cash-for-Vote’ case Mattaiah Jerusalem to June 29. The Court also postponed its verdict on change of Judge sought by nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson. Due to the postponement of the Special Court’s verdict, the stay on arrest of Mattaiah Jerusalem automatically adjourned to Monday.
Arguments in both cases concluded on Thursday and the Court asked the parties whether there were any objections. Elvis Stephenson’s counsel argued how the Court could give stay on the arrest of A-4 in the case. He also argued that the Judge has to transfer the case to another bench as the present Judge was not in a position discharge his duties impartially. The Counsel also questioned the AP police how they could protect an accused and register complaint of Mattaiah Jerusalem.
Mattaiah’s counsel Siddhartha Lothra argued that Mattaiah has nothing to do with the ‘Cash-for-Vote’ case. The ACB erroneously included his name in the case. He also argued that the people would lose confidence on judicial system if the case was shifted to another bench. Then the Court postponed its verdict to Monday. (NSS)
