Hyderabad: Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu here on Saturday called upon people from all sections of society to re-dedicate themselves for protecting ‘Swarajya’ (Independence) while striving to convert it into ‘Surajya’ (good rule).
Presiding over an impressive gathering of political leaders, youth, children and people from all sections of the society in Tiranga yatra at Kasu Brahmananda Reddi Park at Banjara Hills here today, the Union minister said irrespective of caste, creed, region, religion, sex, colour, India is one — one nation, one people and one country. Recalling the supreme sacrifices of freedom fighters, the Union minister said every Indian must deliver his or her duties properly. “The standards of life must enhance and the fruits of development must reach each and every citizen” he said. “Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should take a positive approach to declare and celebrate September 17 as Telangana Liberation Day”, he opinioned. Making a special reference to the Quit India Movement of 1942, he said now onwards “We should use Quit India slogan as Quit Poverty, Quit Untouchability, Quit Corruption, Quit atrocities against women and Quit the economic disparities”, he added.
Venkaiah said the present objectives before the nation are about Development and Good Governance and that’s why Prime Minister gave the slogan ”Sab ka saath sab ka vikas”. He also said three Gujarathis’ (Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Narendra Modi) motto is same. While Mahatma Gandhi dreamt of Ramarajya where there is no room for hunger, corruption, anarchy, atrocities, discrimination and harassments, Narendra Modi was working with this motto. “Let us follow the ideals of the Prime Minister and strive to make the Independent India a Su-rajya”, he appealed. He also opined that life histories of great sons of the soil must be included in the school curriculum.
Referring to Kashmir issue, the Union minister said the problem would not have arisen had the issue was handled by Sardar Patel. He cautioned people to be wary about those who are trying to play politics in the name of caste and religion. “We should not forget that we are all Indians”, he said.
Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment Bandaru Dattatraya said the BJP government was tirelessly working for development of the country. “It was with great difficulty that the country got freedom. Let us express gratitude towards the sacrifices of the great people. We should remember our freedom fighters, as a result of their courage and sacrifices we are enjoying freedom, the younger generations need to think in that direction” he urged.
Khairatabad MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy said they would take the Tiranga Yatra to every nook and corner of the State to celebrate Hyderabad’s liberation from Nizam’s. His party would honour all those who fought for the liberation from erstwhile Nizam’s rule.” Party leaders K. Laxman, G. Kishan Reddy, Indrasena Reddy, retired DGP Dinesh Redday, Justice Subhash Chandra, retired bureaucrat Padmanabhayya and others participated in the function.
Earlier, the BJP organized a 5-km Tiranga yatra as part of nation-wide program to remember sacrifices of people for country’s Independence. The yatra started from KBR park and passed through different areas like Jubilee Hills, Filmnagar, Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital and returned to at KBR Park. (NSS)
