BJP national leader M. Venkaiah Naidu has said he sees indications on early elections in the country. The people were looking at the BJP-led coalition as the best alternative to the ruling dispensation.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Naidu said unemployment was increasing due to UPA’s encouragement to FDI in the country. He alleged that the UPA government was incompetent and because of its anti-people measures, price rise and insecurity, the people were anxiously waiting to oust the Congress from power.
Stating that elections to the Lok Sabha would be advanced, Venkaiah made it clear there was no chance for any third front even though the people were waiting for an alternative at the Centre. He strongly felt that general elections may be held in October or November this year. He pointed out that the UPA constituents were openly stating that parliamentary general elections might be held any time.
Stating that Third Front proposal was ‘tried and failed experience’, he said the people were looking at the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as the best alternative to the UPA.
He said the BJP national council meeting would be held at Delhi on March 2 and 3 to discuss measures to strengthen the party and to chalk out its future programs.
The BJP leader said the Centre was compelled to hang Afzal Guru under pressure mounted by the people. He said the Supreme Court had suggested suitable punishment to Afzal Guru only after thorough trial. He found fault with some sections, who failed to open their mouth when the terrorists attacked Parliament and killed several staffers, for opposing hanging of Afzal Guru.
