Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu today inaugurated Prime Minister Mudra Yojana Mela.
Speaking on the occasion, Venkaiah said PM Mudra Yojana was launched for development of the downtrodden people. Banks are coming forward to extend financial help under this scheme to small traders, he added. He also said Rs 1.25 crore loans would be distributed to the beneficiaries under the scheme by March 31 next. An Aqua Research Centre in Kakinada and a Petro Vaersity in Visakhapatnam would be set up, he said.
The Union minister said it was for the first time in the history of the country that 18 crore accounts were opned in the banks under JanDhan Scheme within five months.
Vizag MP Haribabu, Ankapalle MP Avanti Srinivas, MLAs Vishukumar Raju, Bandaru Satyanarayana and others were present at the function. (NSS)
