Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had steered the country on the path of progress with his various development initiatives during his tenure.
Taking part in the birthday celebrations of Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the party office in Vijayawada, Venkaiah Naidu said that the Modi government has decided to observe the former PM’s birthday as ‘Good Governance Day.’ The BJP leader said that at a time when there was notion that no one can govern the country for a full term like the PMs from Nehru-Gandhi family, Atal Bihari Vajpayee led a 23 party coalition government at the Centre successfully and implemented various development schemes.
Stating that the note ban would wipe out black money and corruption in the country, the BJP leader said that the poor will benefit in the long run. He said that those hoarding black money would face the music after January 1. He said that the government would bring more tough laws to deal with corruption and black money.
Earlier, the BJP leaders distributed blankets, fruits and other essentials among the poor and need to mark the birthday of former Prime Minister. (INN)
