National BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu here on Saturday charged the Congress-led UPA government with misusing autonomous bodies like Central Bureau of Investigation, Income Tax Department and Central Vigilance Commission for its petty political ends.
Addressing the media here, Venkaiah said the Congress government has revealed its true nature by not including the CBI under the purview of Lokpal Bill. Though representatives of all political parties were included in the Select Committee, the Congress party, by presiding over the committee, tailored the Lokpal Bill to suit its needs, he added. He also alleged that the Congress government was instigating the CBI to witch hunt its political rivals and the fine examples are the cases against former UP chief minister Mayawati and Madhu Koda.
Alleging that the Congress government was orchestrating Income Tax raids against those who spoke against the government and its leaders, Venkaiah said former president of his party Nitin Gadkari was one of the victims of the vendetta of the Congress. The BJP leader also accused the Congress government of trying to dilute the cases against its supporters like Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Venkaiah Naidu made it clear that his party would not back the tailor-made Lokpal Bill under any circumstances. He also declared that his party would accost the UPA government in Parliament against its anti-people policies. (NSS)
