Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday night spoke to Railway Board Chairman and advised him to run special trains from Hyderabad to Guntur, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam and back during the festive season.
Venkaiah Naidu last night explained to Railway Board Chairman A.K. Mittal about the difficulties being faced by the people travelling from Hyderabad to Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Tirupati and so on to go to their native places for celebrating Sankranti festival.
This morning, the Railway Board Chairman called back and informed the Union minister that the South Central Railway has been instructed to run special trains — one in the morning, one in the afternoon and if necessary one more train in the night. He also informed the minister that 35 additional coaches each to both the trains going towards Guntur, Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Visakhapatnam are added to take care of the rush. Naidu also told Mittal to make available trains for their return journey to Hyderabad on January16 and 17 for which the Chairman agreed to do so and gave instructions to the officials concerned in South the Central Railway. Naidu hoped that the travel needs of the people travelling from Hyderabad to Andhra Pradesh and vice versa would be met. (NSS)
