Mathura (UP), June 06: Police today claimed to have busted a notorious vehicle theft gang by arresting five of its members from near Jamunamata village here and seizing 15 luxury cars from their possession.
“Besides the luxury cars, bogus registration letters, NOC certificates and some important documents were recovered from their possession,” Senior Superintendent of Police B D Paulson told reporters.
The five, including a clerk of the Ferozabad RTO office, were held after police got a tip-off that they were proceeding towards Govardhan area from here in a stolen vehicle, he said.
The activities of the gang came into light following the arrest of two persons along with two stolen cars here three days ago.
Briefing the modus-operandi of the gang, the officer said its members first steal luxury cars and then with the help of the clerk prepare fake documents at the Ferozabad RTO office.
