A 40-year-old woman committed suicide after she was allegedly thrashed by her neighbours.
According to Neredmet police, the deceased, M Kumari, took the extreme by setting herself ablaze on February 11 at her residence in Neredmet. She was admitted to the Gandhi Hospital where she died today. Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that Kumari was allegedly having an illicit affair with one G Yadagiri of the same locality. Occasionally, she used to give him some money. On February 11, she asked Yadagiri to return him amount. Angred by this, Yadagiri, along with his son and other neighbour Renuka and Farida, thrashed Kumari at her residence. Felt humiliated, she committed suicide.
A case under Section 306 of IPC has been registered against Yadagiri and others and further investigations are on. (INN)
