Vegetable prices go high: Tomato paints faces red, Onion brings tears

Hyderabad: The soaring prices of Tomatoes had painted the face of consumers red. Now, the price rise of onions will bring tears.

The wholesale traders opined that the prices of vegetables may rise in the next few weeks due to short supply. Onion is being supplied in Telangana market in limited quantity which is resulting in price rise. In a week or two, an increase of Rs. 10 to 15 of per kg onion is likely. It is reported that in Kurnool and in some districts of Maharashtra, the production of onion received a setback.

Normally, farmers from Maharashtra and Karnataka get 10-12 truckloads of onion to the markets of Hyderabad daily but now it is getting reduced.

It may be mentioned that in Telangana, Gadwal and Mahboob Nagar districts produce onion.
