Hyderabad, January 28: Sandhya Purohit was found carrying bags full of vegetables at a local super market.
She seemed quite happy with the current price of vegetables.
“In the last few weeks, price of vegetables have been soaring. We surely did not reduce our purchases, but now that prices have come down, it isn’t burning a hole in our pockets,” opined Sandhya, who works at a printing press. She also prefers buying vegetables from a supermarket than local vendors even though prices at a supermarket are relatively higher. “It is a lot more convenient,” she added.
Yadgiri, a vegetable vendor is also quite happy that prices have gone down. According to him, price of tomatoes has fallen from Rs 28 per kg to Rs 26 this week, whereas price of onions has drastically come down from Rs 36 per kg to Rs 24 per kg. On the other hand, prices of leafy vegetables and lemons have been relatively stable.
“We purchase vegetables from the Monda market at Mehdipatnam. In the past few weeks, my regular customers had reduced their purchases. But I am expecting everything to get back to normal now,” said Yadgiri.
