Veerendrakumar led JDS faction now called SJD

Thiruvananthapuram, May 20: The JDS faction led by former Union Minister M P Veerendrakumar, who split from the Deve Gowda-led party and joined the opposition UDF, today decided to rechristen their outfit as Socialist Janata (Democratic).

The party has been registered as SJD with the Election Commission and it would be formally announced at a press conference in Kozhikode on August 9, Veerendrakumar told reporters here.

He said the four-year old LDF government was a `total failure’ in all respects, adding, “The Chief Minister could not work along with his colleagues and the government was not being run as per the country’s Constitution, but by party principles.”

“There is absolutely no collective responsibility in the LDF ministry.
