VCCI urges govt to improve power condition in Port City

The Vizagpatnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) today demanded that the state government should take up corrective measures on a war-footing to improve the power situation in the state and also encourage setting up of captive wind and solar energy plants. In a memorandum addressed to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar reddy on industry related problems and power deficit and the industrial situation arising out of indiscriminate power cuts in the Port City, VCCI Secretary M V Narayana Rao urged the State Government to allow gas-based power plants to use diesel and naptha to generate power as a temporary solution. According to VCCI press release here the industry body expressed its concern that if the same situation continues for a month, a large number of industries, especially small and medium scale, will face closure and lakhs of employees will be rendered jobless, all of which will severely affect the economy of the state.

Industry representatives will soon meet Chief Minister Mr Reddy in this regard, it added. UNI
