Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Satyanarayana, inaugurated the newly renovated office of the Department of Library and Information Science and also inaugurated one-day workshop on “Literature Searching for Research Scholars” at New Seminar Hall, University College of Arts and Social Sciences on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the VC said research and e-Resources search was more important to collect review of literature for research scholars. Some 120 scholars participated in the workshop.
Prof. S. Mallesh, Principal, UCA&SS, who presided over the program, shared his research experiences in collecting data and how to retrieve data. Director of the workshop Prof. V. Vishwamohan, Head, DLIS, OU, explained about how to formulate a problem and explained about Research Design.
Dr M. Achala, convener of the workshop, explained about Social Media and Networking. J. Vivekvardhan, Co-convener and Asst. Professor, DLIS of the workshop delivered a lecture on Search Engines and Literature Searching in Science. Dr K. Bharathi, Asst. Professor, DLIS, spoke on Literature Searching in Arts. Dr A.S. Chakravarthy, Asst. Professor, OUL, delivered a lecture on E-Resources and Literature Searching in Social Sciences.
In the valedictory function, Prof. Srinivas, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, emphasized about emerging areas in social science research. Prof. S.V. Satyanarayana, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Prof. Nageswar Rao, Dean Faculty of Science and. Dr S. Yadagiri, Librarian Incharge, also attended the function. (NSS)
