Ministry of Human Resource Development issued a show cause notice to Shashanta Datta Gupta, VC of Vishwabharati University asking him to explain the financial and administrative irregularities committed in the university which were pointed out by the three member enquiry committee. The VC has been given 21 days time to offer his explanation. In case he fails to offer his explanation, disciplinary action would be taken against him. President of India who is the Visitor of the University may apply section 16 of the Act to remove VC. Ministry of HRD had sought approval from the President for issuing show cause notice to VC.
