On Thursday, a transit centre-cum-shelter home, Vatsalya Bhavan, was inaugurated by Gurneet Tej, Director, Department of Women and Child Development, in the City.
The home has been established to rehabilitate helpless girl children and to cater for their immediate and long-term needs. The home was started by Bosco, is run with donations and is exclusively for underprivileged girlchildren.
Speaking on the occasion, Tej said: “The activities of the centre will take account of several responsibilities. It will receive children from vulnerable pockets in the City and will take care of their health, education family amalgamation, advocacy, referral services, job placement, etc.
The above said services will be provided on a case-to-case basis, keeping in mind the best interests of the child.
