VAT on diesel reduced in Jharkhand

Ranchi, March 05: The Jharkhand government today scaled down the hike in VAT on diesel from 20 per cent to 18 per cent.

The roll back comes three weeks after the government hiked the VAT on diesel from 14.5 per cent to 20 per cent.

“We have reduced VAT on diesel from 20 per cent to 18 per cent,” Finance Minister Raghuvar Das said while presenting the 2010-11 budget in the state Assembly.

On February 10, the government had increased VAT on diesel from 14.5 per cent to 20 per cent, triggering widespread protests from both the ruling and opposition parties.
