Vasco Da Gama Express derails kills two, injures 8 others

New Delhi: Another incident of train derailment is reported from Chitrakoot District where train 12741 Vasco Da Gama-Patna Express train derailed killing three persons while injuring nine others in the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the Police spokesperson, the train derailed at platform number two in Manikpur during the early hours on Friday.

The Police said, One bogey of the train had “half-tilted in the derailment, adding that a “major accident [had been] averted.”

The two persons who died on the spot are identified as Deepak Patel and his father Ram Swaroop Patel who belonged to Betia town in Bihar.

the other injured persons were rushed to hospital Manikpur CHC.

According to ADG (Law and Order), Anand Kumar the fractured railway tracks lead to the accident.
Speaking of the incident North Central Railway PRO Amit Malviya said,
the coaches that derailed from the track were S3-S11.

Stating that, “The injured have been rushed to the hospital and officials have left for the spot. Relief operations are underway.”

He further added an accident relief train had soon reached the accident spot 5:20 am.

The divisional railway manager (DRM), Allahabad has already reached the spot while the General Manager, NCR is on his way, he said.

The remaining unhurt passengers were later on transported to Allahabad with only front eight coaches leaving around 7:25 am.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal in wake of the accident announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of dead in the incident along with Rs 1 Lakh for the injured persons.
