New Delhi, March 09: Union Shipping Minister G K Vasan today welcomed the passage of Women’s Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha and thanked the members of all parties for voting in favour of the “historic” bill.
Vasan said he was happy that “historic bill” providing 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and state legislatures was passed under the leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
“It is welcome that the Women’s Reservation Bill was passed under the leadership of the prime minister and Congress president with the support from parties like BJP, Left, DMK and other allies,” he said.
