Varun and Rahul to unite? Speculations that Varun may join Congress

Agra: Speculations are on rife that Varun Gandhi, the son of former Youth icon late Sanjay Gandhi, may join the Grand-old Party Congress, and Rahul Gandhi may welcome him as Priyanka Vadra maintains cordial relations with Varun and acts as a catalyst to facilitate his joining the party.

According to a News article reported in India Today, Sources say that Varun has been critical of Modi Government’s policies and did not attend BJP rallies in UP. It is also said that Varun feels that he has been side-lined by the Party. After BJP won in UP with thumping majority, some BJP leaders were in favour of Varun Gandhi as Chief Ministerial candidate but the top brass of BJP had chosen Yogi Adityanath as CM candidate.

The BJP is hell bent on destroying Congress and its Nehru-Gandhi heritage. Perhaps he may have understood that his Political future is not secure under BJP.

Haji Manzoor Ahmed, a senior Congress leader has said that ahead of 2019 parliamentary elections, Varun could be inducted into the Congress Working Committee as a member or an office-bearer and together, Rahul and Varun could become a major force to be reckoned with, supported by Priyanka Vadra, who has always maintained cordial relations with Varun.

Ram Tandon, Agra city Congress ex-president and UPCC member told that Varun has never made any direct attacks on Rahul in his public meetings and Varun may join the Congress with Rahul becoming the president of the party.

However, both Sonia Gandhi and Maneka Gandhi may not be in favour of reunion of the family. Maneka Gandhi is currently Cabinet Minister in Modi’s Government and may not be in favour of Varun Gandhi joining Congress.
