Varanasi: 22 injured as bus hit the pole,on the way to meet PM Modi

Varanasi: 22 differently-abled people injured while there bus hit a pole near Varanasi on Friday.

They were on their way to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an event where he will distribute e-rickshaws and other equipment to differently-abled people attending the convocation of Bhimrao Ambedkar University and addressing Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Mahasabha in Lucknow.

He was also expected to talk to five differently-abled children who have recently gone through cochlear implant surgeries.

More than 350 buses of U.P. Roadways have been engaged to collect the beneficiaries from their doorsteps to attend the ceremony.

This is Prime Minister Modi’s fifth visit to his constituency after assuming office in May, 2014, in a visit that is politically significant for the ruling BJP ahead of polls in the state next year. He arrived in the holy city of Varanasi on Friday and flagged off Mahamana Superfast Express which will run from here to New Delhi.
