London : Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal believes his side are not far behind second-ranked Tottenham and are as good as them despite trailing the latter by 12 points in the Premier League table.
“We have beaten Tottenham 1-0 (in August) and until the 70th minute I think we were the better team but then a miscommunication,” the Dutchman was quoted as saying by goal.com.
The 64-year-old, however, felt that the absence of creative players in his team was the main reason behind his side’s inability to score more goals than Tottenham.
“So I don’t think there is a lot of distance between Tottenham and Manchester United, but the distance is in points. They have won more, they are scoring more and that’s because they have more creative players.”
Van Gaal’s side are currently fifth in the standings and are five points adrift of fourth-ranked Manchester City.
They will now take on Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Wednesday, with an aim to clinch victory in order to keep alive their hopes of finishing in the top four. (ANI)
