London : Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal believes that his side can still make a top-four Premier League finish despite his side’s humiliating defeat at the hands of second-placed Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
Earlier, Tottenham Hotspur thrashed United 3-0, with Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela scoring each within a gap of six minutes in the second half.
Reflecting on their performance, van Gaal said that his side were playing good away match before Tottenham’s first goal, but added that they soon lost the opportunity to score.
He added that his side had to cope with their defeat and need to shift their focus on their upcoming games, the Mirror reported.
United are currently fifth in the points table and are behind fourth-place Manchester City by four points.
Insisting that his side were still in the race, the Dutchman admitted that it had become more difficult to close the gap, but said that the opponent teams could suffer a defeat in their upcoming games.
United will now lock horns with Aston Villa on Saturday. (ANI)
