Valuable properties under Makkah Masjid missing, survey indispensable

Waqf gazette mentions that Makkah Masjid is spread over 23696 sqyd i.e. nearly 5 acres of land. While Minority Welfare department has to say that according to the officials of revenue department there are 300 houses in the Mahajireen camp, which contradicts the statement made by a senior worker of Makkah Masjid who told that the number of houses under Makkah Masjid is just 150.

On the other side senior citizens of the city wonder, when more than 27 acre land was endowed under Toli Masjid located at Karwan, how only 5 acre land could have been endowed under the historical Makkah Masjid. Some citizens believe that Qutub Shahi, Moghal and Asif Jahi rulers had endowed vast lands at various places of the city to generate revenue and resources for Makkah Masjid. Supporting their view a 75 year old man working in Makkah Masjid for nearly 60 years told that several acres of land was endowed at Osman Sagar (Gandipet) under Makkah Masjid. Another senior worker has to say that besides 8 acres of land endowed at Shaikpet the entire Gagan Pahad, Shamsabad had been endowed under Makkah Masjid therefore the stones used in the construction of Makkah Masjid was brought from Gagan Pahad Shamsabad.

A special survey needs to be done to take stock of the lands endowed under Makkah Masjid. Where the waqf properties under Makkah Masjid have gone? The facts need to be brought to light.
