The Andhra Pradesh Vaddera Sangham president Tanneru Dharmaraju has requested the BJP Senior leader and Opposition leader in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj to bring pressure on the Central government to include Vaddera caste in ST category.
Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Dharmaraju said that they have submitted a memorandum to Sushma Swaraj here on Sunday to mount pressure on the Central government to include Vaddera Caste into ST category. He informed that Swaraj has assured them to raise their demand in the Parliament.
Dharmaraju said that about 74 lakh vaddera people were living in the state. Though Justice Bala krishnarenike Commission had submitted a report suggesting inclusion of 25 castes in ST category in 1976, the Central government has ignored it. The Central government has included Lambada, Erukala, Yanadi castes into ST Category, but it ignored the Vaddera Caste in this regard. He demanded the Central government to immediately include Vaddera Caste into ST category.
Dharmaraju said that vaddera caste people had lost their employment and educational opportunities since the last 36 years.
Telangana Vaddera Sangham president Pallapu Sanbharaju, vice president Dandugula Venkatesh, Ranga Reddy district president D. Mysaiah, vice president S. Durgaiah, GHMC president P. Laxminarayana, legal cell convener Bandaru Shaijala, vice president Gunja Sanbarao, state secretary P. Ravinder and A. Krishna were also present. (NSS)
