Uzbek woman held at Goa airport

Panaji: An Uzbek woman wanted by the Interpol on charges of human trafficking in her country was nabbed at the Goa Airport today.

Lola Khakimova was on her way to Dubai via Muscat by an Oman Airlines flight when the Immigration officials stopped her.

She was then handed over to the Goa Police.

“The woman, who lives in Mumbai, had come to Goa to board the international flight. She is wanted as per the look out circular and the red corner notice issued against her,” the police said in a release.

Khakimova was wanted by Uzbekistan for the commission of offence on the charge of human trafficking.

“She was apprehended at the departure immigration clearance while departing to Dubai,” it said, adding that as per the procedure she would be handed over to the CBI which will communicate with the Interpol.
