Mumbai, October 11: Police today told the Bombay High Court that using Facebook as a communication tool for receiving complaints will not be feasible.
Traffic police have created a profile on the popular networking site where citizens can post pictures of potential traffic rule violations around the city.
But creating Facebook profile for other police departments “may not be feasible at this stage due to various reasons”, says a letter written to public prosecutor by G D Pol, Inspector General of Police (Law and Order).
However, the department will still consider the idea, it says. The High Court had, on the last occasion, asked why the police do not use networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
A division bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and Pramod Kode had also asked last time why police do not adopt investigation methods of Criminal Investigation Department.
