New Delhi, May 18: Even as the animation industry has urged the Central Government to give them a fixed quota of airspace for showing localised cartoon programmes, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni has asked them to create greater content taking ideas from Indian mythology.
During a meeting between a delegation representing the animation section of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Soni recently, the industry representatives urged her to fix around 10 to 15 per cent air space for localised cartoon content on television, as the Indian television space is virtually packed with foreign cartoon shows.
The minister, while assuring them of a re-look into the matter, asked the animators to focus on creating content using the Amar Chitra Katha comic series as a cue.
