BHOPAL: Alleging that non-Hindus, especially Muslims participate in garbas with the intention to “entice” girls, a Hindu outfit, Hindu Utsav Samiti (HUS), has demanded that Aadhar card be made mandatory to prevent their entry during the upcoming Navratri.
“It’s not easy to make a fake Aadhaar card, unlike other documents like voter identity cards. The moment one furnishes his Aadhaar card, there will be no doubt about his identity,” HUS president Kailash Begwani told The Indian Express, at all Garba events
He said that step were taken in an attempt to keep Muslim participants away.
“We get several complaints after the festival is over about exploitation of Hindu girls by those belonging to other religions. added Begwani.
Begwani added a number of girls and their families complained about exploitation of Hindu girls by those belonging to other religions.
A number of non-Hindus would enter the Pandal and befriend Hindu girls during practice sessions, and then entice them during the festival,’’
Begwani said that they would seek to verify identity with the Aadhar as it, unlike the license, cannot be tampered with or copied.
He added that the Hindu festivals should be limited to only the Hindu community and other communities should refrain from being a part.
“The district collector has assured us to take up with Garba organisers our demand to make Aadhar card mandatory for men entering the garba venue,” he said.
He added that if the committee doesn’t comply with them and they keep receiving such complaints, they’d have to take even more severe steps next year.
