Mumbai, April 13: US team Shooting For Success crushed a hapless Maharashtra 82-58 in their opening league encounter in the men’s Group A League of the 27th UPL-Ramu Memorial Basketball Tournament here today.
C Moore (23 points) and David Jones aka DJ (20) were the stars of the match, and along with J Shank (18) and Terry Fields (11), completed the rout for the American team, which has been visiting Mumbai for a couple of years.
In another scrappy men’s encounter from the same group, ONGC got past Indian Army 53-45. Without the services of mainstay Shamabji Kadam, Army had to rely on Jairam Jat to deliver the goods.
Jat’s individual brilliance saw him top score with 18 points. Among his teammates only Babu Arokia could get into double figures with 11 points.
