USA: Climate report warns of dire economic consequences

Washington D.C. [USA]: A climate report released by the White House warned of grim consequences due to climate change.

The climate change which is being felt across the 50 states might lead to a loss hundreds of billions of dollars or as much as 10% of GDP by the end of the century, reported CNN.

The Fourth National Climate Assessment highlighted that extreme weather disasters have become more frequent, intense, widespread or of long duration.

The report further disclosed that the disasters have cost the United States as much as 400 billion USD since 2015.

“Without more significant global greenhouse gas mitigation and regional adaptation efforts, climate change is expected to cause substantial losses to infrastructure and property and impede the rate of economic growth over this century,” the report stated.

Stating that humans are the reason behind the 90% of the rise in temperature, the report asserted that the US will be as much as will be 3-12 degrees hotter by the end of the century.
