‘US using Jundallah in plot to destabilize Iran’

Tehran, October 26: The US is trying to destabilize Iran’s borders by making use of the terrorist group Jundallah, a retired Pakistani general says.

Jundallah, also known as the Rigi group because it is led by Abdolmalek Rigi, has claimed responsibility for a terrorist attack carried out on October 18 in the Iranian city of Pishin, near the border with Pakistan, which killed over 40 people, including several senior commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.

“Helping the Rigi terrorist group launch terrorist attacks against Iranian civilians and military personnel in the border regions is one of the main strategies pursued by the US to confront Iran,” General Mirza Aslam Beg (ret.), the former chief of staff of the Pakistani army, told IRNA.

He pointed out that US intelligence agencies directly cooperate with the Jundallah terrorist organization with the goal of destabilizing Iran.

Pointing to the United States’ setbacks in Afghanistan over the past eight years, Aslam Beg said that the positive steps Iran has taken in Afghanistan and its all-out cooperation with Pakistan compelled the US to pursue policies meant to destabilize Iran.

“Everyone is aware that Iran plays a crucial role in the decision-making process in the region in the area of security,” he added.
