‘US, terrorists meet in Afghanistan’

Tehran, December 08: Head of Iran Majlis (parliament) Human Rights Sub-Committee says there are documents to prove that American authorities have official meetings with terrorist groups in Afghanistan.

Referring to the explosions targeting Afghan Muslims on Ashura, Zohreh Elahian said that the Western occupiers are responsible for terrorist attacks in the country.

“Majlis Human Rights Sub-Committee condemns such inhuman measures and urges the international community not to remain silent in the face of such incidents,” Fars News Agency quoted her as saying on Wednesday.

“The UN Security Council and human rights bodies should question the US about terrorist attacks [in Afghanistan] on Ashura and the occupying forces should be held accountable in this regard,” she said.

The lawmaker also regretted that the recent conference on Afghanistan in the German city of Bonn has fallen short of discussing terrorism in the country.

Emphasizing that the UN Security Council is responsible for investigating terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, Elahian said the massacre of Afghans has increased their hatred towards the US.

She went on to say that the US was trying to sow discord among Shia and Sunni, adding, “Today, Shias and Sunnis consider the US and its allies as their common enemy and will show self-restraint by not playing in the ground prepared [for them] by the enemies of Islam,” she said.

On Tuesday, at least 54 Afghans lost their lives in two separate explosions in Afghanistan’s Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif when Muslims were participating in mourning rituals commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of grandson of Islam’s Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and third Shia Imam, Imam Hossein (PBUH).

The attacks came one day after 1,000 leaders from over 100 countries and international organizations met in the German city of Bonn to vow their continued support for the security and development of Afghanistan.

The meeting aimed at drawing up a roadmap for the transfer of security responsibility from foreign forces to locals over the next three years.
