Baghdad, September 04: A top Iranian commander says the war of attrition the US is embroiled in will cause Washington to face increasing difficulties in Iraq in the future.
“The US is in a quagmire whether to keep its military forces in Iraq or withdraw them from the country,” Deputy Head of Iran’s Armed Forces Joint Chiefs of Staff Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri told Mehr News Agency on Sunday.
“On the one hand, American troops in Iraq are worn out and the more time passes, their psychological and physical situation further deteriorates and every day the death toll of US forces increases,” he said.
“On the other hand, by withdrawing their troops the US will have no response but silence and regret to the question about what the United States has achieved in Iraq?”
Jazayeri noted that the US administration cannot make the correct decision because it is aware that the Iraqi people are determined to send American forces home.
“It is predicted that in the future, the US will face serious troubles, which are the result of the ambitions that arrogant powers and occupying regimes pursue,” he said.
