US-led soldier killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, September 26: The soldier was killed on Monday, the Western military alliance said without giving further details about the nationality of the soldier.

The latest death brings to 38 the number of foreign troops killed in the war-torn country so far this month, AP reported.

On Sunday, two foreign soldiers serving with NATO were killed in separate incidents in troubled eastern Afghanistan.

Insecurity has spread from Afghanistan’s volatile south to relatively peaceful areas during the past year, despite the presence of around 150,000 foreign troops in the country.

The increasing number of troop casualties in Afghanistan has caused widespread anger in the US and other NATO member states, undermining public support for the Afghan war.
