US to get anti-terror tips from India

Hyderabad, September 25: Stating the Indian security forces were well-trained and work with great commitment and professionalism, regional security officer of the US Consulate Robert A Rentz said on Friday that their American counterparts were keen to learn from them and take a few tips on tackling terrorism in their nation.

Quoting the work done during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the Tsunami and Bhuj earthquake in Gujarat, he said the US would like to take tips from the police, paramilitary forces and the Army on effective ways to deal with terrorism.

At an interaction with the deputy inspectors general (DIGs), superintendents of police (SPs) and commandos along with military and paramilitary forces, Rentz said, “Indian security forces work with commitment and professionalism. It is expected this course would lead to significant improvements in police action in the prevailing security scenario and help in development of new strategies and modules for professionally managing complex incidents.” “We organise different courses and give proper information to security personnel on terrorist trends and operations and threats specifically posed by chemical, biological, radiological and highyield explosive weapons,” said RR Bharadwaj, director and inspectorgeneral (IG) of the National Industrial Security Academy (NISA). He said they had organised as many as 14 different courses on antiterrorist operations in collaboration with US security officials and they are scheduled to organise a new course on combating terrorism in December.
