Washington, August 12: The United States has said it is encouraging Sri Lanka to address the humanitarian needs of its people, especially those in the northern parts of the country who have been affected by the recently concluded civil war.
“We continue to encourage the government to address the humanitarian needs of those who have been affected by the recent conflict, and we’ll continue to press that case with the Sri Lankan Government,” Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs P J Crowley said.
Crowley said the US has sent a number of emissaries to Sri Lanka in this regard.
