Hyderabad: US Consulate General in Hyderabad issues the fifth highest number of student visas in the world and highest in the country says, Michele Bond, Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs.
According to 2015 data quoted by Times of India that 60,000 visas were given to the Indian students by the US mission in the country issued by the US consulate general in Hyderabad.
The number of student visa applications processed for higher education in the US grew by 37% in May this year, taking it to a tally of 2,731 – reportedly the highest in recent memory.
Nicholas J Manring, consul, American Consulate General, Chennai, -“This week (except for Wednesday), we will conduct 1,300 interviews per day. On Wednesday, the number is expected to be around 1,500. Of these, 200-300 are expected to be student visa interviews,”told TOI in an interview on Monday.
8,000 -up from 5,00 in the same period a year before, F1 visa applications were processed at Chennai office between December 1, 2013, and May 31, 2014.
The number of visas is increasing in all categories. But, the maximum growth is in student visas. There seems to be no impact of the rupee-dollar rate on students heading to the US,” he said.
He also says “Be honest to the interviewer. Tell them what your educational goals are and how you want to achieve it. Do not submit fake financial documents. We rely more on the interview than the documents you submit.”
