Urinary incontinence can be cured: Dr. Vamsi Krishna

Urinary incontinence is a common disease and it can be cured through physiotherapy and medical treatment, Urologist P Vamshi Krishna has said.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, Dr Vamsi Krishna said that from June 18 to 24 would be observed as World Continence Week as there was need to create awareness among the public about Urinary incontinence. He said generally most of the people suffer from urinary incontinence but they feel shy to consult doctors. The problem is more in the women, he added. Urinary incontinence is the inability to control urination, which leads to leakage of urine. It is a common problem, which can occur in all age groups. Due to spinal and brain diseases, urinary incontinence would develop in human beings, he added.

Dr Vamsi Krishna disclosed that incontinence can be treated with some dietary modifications and by learning methods to gain control over the bladder. There are effective medicines available for treatment of incontinence, he added. He suggested that patients of urinary incontinence should take liquids very less after 6 pm.
