Agra: Urdu world mourned the death of eminent novelist, short story writer and former Chairman, Department of Urdu Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. Qazi Abdus Sattar. He died on Sunday after a prolonged illness at the age of 85.
Various eminent personalities conveyed condolence messages on the sad demise of Padmashree awardee and writer of half a dozen novels.
Professor Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim university deeply mourned his death. He said Prof Qazi’s death is an irreparable loss to AMU community and Urdu literature.
A condolence meeting was also held at Dept. of Urdu, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad, on Monday. In his message Vice-Chancellor, Dr Mohammed Aslam Parvez said Prof Qazi’s death is a great loss for Urdu language and literature.
Prof Ibn-e-Kanwal Prof Anwar Pasha also condoled the death of Prof Qazi and said his death is the second major tragedy for Urdu literature after Quratul Ain Hyder.
