Majority of staff and students of the Urdu University build on Waqf land are Muslims but the university has no masjid to offer Namaz. Even after two decades of its foundation, there is not a single masjid on the campus sprawled over 214 acres of Waqf land. Friday prayer is offered in sports complex. Restlessness prevails among 2 thousand students as there is no masjid in the campus to offer Namaz.
Some students on the condition of anonymity told that Vice Chancellor of the university and other high officials do not show interest in construction of masjid. Interestingly, Osmania University, Aligarh Muslim University, Rajendra Nagar Agriculture University and other universities have masajid but only Maulana Azad National Urdu University doesn’t have a masjid which has majority of Muslim staff and students.
