(Siasat News) Mr. Justice B. Chandra Kumar of A.P. High Court issued a stay order for four weeks on all the appointments made for professors on a writ petition No. 6156 of 2012 filed by Ms. Rayeesunnisa Begum, Lecturer, Global College of Education. She had challenged the action of the University of neglecting the condition of knowledge of Urdu for teaching posts advertised through notification No. 25/2011, dated: 27-01-2011. This order was passed by A.P. High Court on 9th March 2012.
Ms. Rayeesunnisa contended that for the post of Assistant Professor of Education, 12 candidates attended the interview. Only two Urdu knowing candidates were selected whereas the other selected candidates did not fulfill the requirement of Urdu knowledge which was a compulsory condition. She also contended that Urdu University can relax other conditions but the essential condition of knowledge of Urdu cannot be relaxed. The candidates who were selected do not fulfill this condition. Since the objective of the establishment of Urdu University is to promote Urdu language and to impart technical education through Urdu medium the appointments made violating the rules warrant cancellation. She also contended that Urdu University is not furnishing the details of appointments. She has not been issued appointment orders so far. She does not know whether she is eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor of Education, although she possesses the requisite qualifications for the post.
