Reiterating their commitment to promote Urdu language Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said, ‘Urdu represents our composite culture’. Addressing an award function here Ms Dikshit said, “Urdu represents our composite culture. The language has contributed substantially during the freedom struggle. Urdu is, no doubt, a language which has been instrumental in nurturing unity of our country.” The Chief Minister further stated that Urdu has been associated with the glory of Delhi.
“The Government is keen to provide more computers in all Madarsas to enhance employment opportunities,” she said.
The Government and Urdu Academy have been working continuously to promote Urdu in the capital city, she added.
She also distributed awards to various poets and writers in the function organised by Urdu Academy, Delhi.
Delhi’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister Haroon Yusuf was also present on this occasion. UNI
