Exhibition society which organizes Shankerji Memorial Urdu Mushaira every year to Commemorate its former Secretary, Mr. Shankerji, altogether neglected Urdu on the occasion of the inauguration of 73rd Numaish yesterday, Many members of Exhibition Society were discontented because there was no Urdu on the inaugural banner of Exhibition. They invited the attention of the Secretary of the Society.
Govt. makes announcements that Urdu is the second official language but when it comes to practice, no action is taken. It may perhaps be that it is wrongly associated with a religion. Everyone knows that Urdu played an important role in freedom struggle of India.
It may be pointed out that two years back, Exhibition Society adopted Urdu word “Numaish” instead of its English equivalent “Exhibition”.
