Urdu neglected in Library week

Hyderabad, November 20: Mr. Shaik Abdur Rahman Bawazir, social activist in a statement complained that the Govt. of A.P. organized Library week from 14th to 20th November 2011. For its publicity, posters are being pasted in public libraries in the city and the state but the tragic part of it is that despite declaring Urdu as the 2nd official language of the state, not a single poster has been printed in Urdu. The Govt. is very well aware that it is implementing three language formula in which Urdu is also included. It has been declared as the second official language in 15 districts of A.P.

It may not be out of place to mention that 11th November is the birthday of the first education minister of India Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Govt. celebrated national education day to commemorate Maulana Azad’s birthday. On this occasion also Urdu was neglected in Govt. offices and in RTC. How long can this injustice would continue? He appealed to Minorities Welfare Minister & Urdu organizations to take action in this regard.
