Jagtial: Tahreek Urdu Telangana (TUT) is conducting a one-day Urdu Mela on November 9, to mark the birth anniversary of famous Urdu poet Muhammad Iqbal (writer of Sare Jahan Se Accha…), which is celebrated as World Urdu Day, informed TUT founder-president Khan Zia.
Accordingly, a Urdu Mela exhibition will be conducted at the Government High School, Khazipura in Jagtial from 10 am to 1 pm where students from across the Jagtial district and also from other districts will display their exhibits highlighting various aspects of Urdu culture and literature.
The organizers will exhibit paintings and photographs of classical Urdu poets, their literary work and Urdu calligraphy, old and new Urdu magazines, newspapers, coins with Urdu writings, traditional costumes.
A mock mushaira (poetry session) with participants enacting poets like Iqbal, Gazlib court will also be staged.
Later in the evening a Urdu session will be held at Rubi Function Hall where winners of literary contest will be given awards. Competitions under various categories were held for essay writing, elocution, poetry in the district and the winners will be awarded on the occasion.
Nizamabad MP K Kavita, Jagtial MLA Jeevan Reddy, Shatavahana University Urdu Department HoD Dr Humera Tasleem and other dignitaries will grace the occasion.

Tahreek Urdu Telangana, is a voluntary organisation started in 1991 in Karimnagar. TUT has been striving for the promotion of Urdu language since its inception in the erstwhile AP.
