Hyderabad: The translation work pertaining to Urdu Medium degree courses of Dr. Ambedkar Open University Hyderabad will be entrusted to Maulana Azad National Urdu University today. A decision was taken at a meeting held in the chamber of Dy. CM, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali yesterday. Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare, Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS has been entrusted with this responsibility. He informed that the officials of Open University will meet the Registrar of MANUU today along with the textbooks to be translated.
In the first phase, the textual materials pertaining to the first semester would be translated. If need be, the materials of the second semester would be translated by Urdu Academy.
Secretary/Director, Urdu Academy, Prof. S.A. Shukoor has contacted various experts of the subjects for getting the translation done.
Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare informed that a request would be made to the Urdu university authorities to complete the translation work as early as possible so that the commencement of courses in Urdu medium could be started this year.
It may be mentioned that despite the decision to restore Urdu Medium courses, Ambedkar Open University has not yet included Urdu medium facilities on its website. It is understood that Open University Officials are not interested in restoring Urdu medium courses.
It is reported that despite conducting qualifying entrance test, Open University authorities had abandoned Urdu medium.
Dy. CM, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali and Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council, Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir had contacted Dy. CM and Minister of Education, Mr. Kadiyam Sri Hari and had ensured restoration of Urdu medium courses in Open University.
