Hyderabad City is known for the development of Urdu language. The present Urdu writers are disappointed when they see the schools where they studied have abandoned the teaching Urdu as a subject. In addition to the Missionary Schools, in the other schools run by the capitalists, there are no Urdu teachers in these schools.
Urdu is a second language in the state but the Dept. of Education is not bothered to see which school is making arrangements for the teaching of Urdu and which are the schools neglecting the recruitment of Urdu teachers.
The parents should not send their children to such schools where there is no arrangement for the teaching of Urdu.
Our religious and cultural heritage is in Urdu, it is necessary for our children to learn Urdu it is a well known fact that English is necessary for international purposes but Urdu is also essential for our religious identity.
Earlier, Christian missionary schools had Urdu teachers on their staff who used to teach Urdu. These days, missionary schools are not offering Urdu as a subject. Parents prefer missionary schools for their high standards but the teaching of Urdu is getting hampered.
It is, therefore, requested that the Dept. of education and district collectors should take care to make arrangements for the teaching Urdu in schools.
